Monks lived there until the Revolution, but soon the community was reduced from 120 to 20 and a dozen religious buildings fell into a state of abandonment.  Starting from the 16th century, there was a succession of Royaumont head abbots, some of whom took a liking to the abbey and made their districts.

In the second half of the nineteenth century, the nuns of the Holy Family of Bordeaux fought to make his soul to the abbey. Guided by the idea to reconstruct the original Gothic architecture and for the glory of Saint Louis, they undertook extensive.
